I hate Christmas..

I hate Christmas..

I put up no ornaments, no tree, no lights on the front of the house, nothing, nada!! BLAH!!

Am I a Grinch or a scrooge? Not at all I give gifts - I love giving. In fact I give often with no reason, but - just because… Gifts are not what Christmas is all about. Decorations are not what Christmas is all about. What it is all about is love, family, friends…. It saddened me so as I watched the news this morning to see people trampled at Macy's and two men fist-fighting in an Orlando Wal-Mart. Sadder still are those selling a three hundred dollar Xbox on eBay for 5 times its worth. Even sadder still is the buyer. The people with the "GOTTA HAVE THAT FOR MY KID or MYSELF" mentality have no clue anymore what this holiday is all about. And what a great example they are setting.. And we wonder why our children are so screwed up.

Material frenzy has set in on Black Friday..

If I had my way, Christmas would be regulated. No one could buy a gift over $10 and the most prized gifts would be those that were made. Time and effort is much more appreciated by this man than the cost. It is the little simple gifts I remember, not the big items.

If I had my way, Christmas would simply be a day spent with all those that we love. The day would be an all day dinner without any electronic distractions. A time to really touch base and commune with people who all too often are too busy to have a time to connect deeply with each other. A time to say thank you for being my friend. A time to say I love you and thank you for having me as your friend.

So sad that the only reason many of our kids want a gift because their friend has one. Or simply because every time they turn on the television it is in their face..

I do hate what Christmas has become.

People need to get back to the basics.. Love and fellowship first, peace of heart and mind shared with valued people in our lives, - gifts last..

I left the religious over tones out of this intentionally since many never even think of god amidst their greed or drunkenness. That in itself would be a much longer piece to write.
