Adult Children of Drunks.

Many years ago I got into more screwed up relationships than one would ever imagine. They all ended badly, and I would stay way too long in them. When the end came I was shattered.

And the next person, was the same as the last.. Different cover same book.

Somehow thirty years ago I stumbled onto a book called How To Break Your Addiction To A Person. That little paper back book changed my life big time. I learned why I kept choosing the same people over and over again.

In that book there was a section about Adult Children Of Alcoholics. And that as well was a very important piece to my puzzle. One does not realize just how much a drunk as a parent can mess you up in your adult relationships. Read this here for a brief synopsis of the problems one may have.
That book really impacted my life. And over the years I have given out at least 100 copies of it. It is a short read if you want to rush through it. But if you want something to make you think about you and your life and your relationships then savor it.

Every person that has read the book got something out of it. It has helped so many. And now out of print, Amazon has copies for 84 cents. I recommend this to any child of an alcoholic. I never realized how much just being that can screw someone up.

My biggest healing was getting over my fear of abandonment. And that was a thing my drunk daddy had unbeknownst to me given me among other problems.

I was reading another blog and responded to them with most of what I have written above.

After thinking about it, this is a great tool and I wanted to share it with everyone.
