Why
DaRk AnGel : Why Home : August 2006 : Whats on my Mind.... Whats on my Mind.... I have watched over and over.. I wanted to see the face, the eyes, of the monster that could do this to a child. Of the man whose name was never mentioned before. Of the man that death is too good for. But is this the man? Or is this someone who is looking for publicity? In all the reading I have done, little is known about him or his whereabouts over the past years. His second wife, who he is divorced from, contests his confession saying he was in another state with her at the time. Is this just some nut case wanting the publicity? There are previous sex related charges against him, he has been discharged from teaching jobs for being "Too Affectionate" with the elementary students. Maybe it is he. The D.A.'s news conference was worthless today. Just a big slap each other on the back and thank you session. Nothing on the case, about the case, or about the evidence. Repeatedly the D.A. reminded everyone that Karr is innocent until found guilty. In the end it looks like DNA will tell the tale. And while all of this was going on I could not help but think of Natalee Holloway. I wonder if I will live long enough to see that solved. All in all Louisiana is backwards in many ways. Politics is definitely one hand helping others. But when it comes to kids, this state has one of the harshest penalties for child molesters, if not the harshest in the nation. For that I am proud of Louisiana. "Louisiana law makes the rape of any child punishable by mandatory life in prison without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. If convicted in Louisiana, the sexual predator never leaves our prison system. Louisiana may be the only state that allows a jury to sentence a child sexual predator to death when the child is under the age of 12. Our laws are tough. I want them to be the toughest in the nation." - Governor Blanco Maybe it is just that we are able to get news in better faster ways these days. But it sure seems like there is a lot more of this going on than there ever has been. We have to protect the kids. I have no solutions. I think the death penalty for all molestations and rapes is a fitting start. No second chances. Rapists rape again. Molesters molest again. We have to not give them that opportunity. Its hard to write anything of any redeeming value. I just find myself saddened and sickened by the whole situation.
